This release fixes bugs associated with version 5.17.
File Information Overlay Interface Change
A new item has been added in the View menu to toggle information overlay. Command-0(zero).

Navigation Services Dialogs
All dialogs have been converted to Navigation Services. This now includes:
1) Save List As Catalog
2) Add Location
3) Apply Color Table
4) Save Color Table
5) List/Add
File Information Overlay
Hitting the Space Key toggles the information overlay. Identical text to that found in the Info
window, is overlayed in the top left corner of the document window. In this way, you can get file information, without showing the Info window, therefore saving screen space.
Save List As HTML
Now includes a command to display the next .html image page in the lists after 5 seconds, producing a web page "slide show" of sorts. This command is included at the bottom of each image .html file. The command is currently commented out, so in order to activate this feature you will need to uncomment it. The easist way to do this, is to modify the STR# resource named HTML, strings 53 and 54. In this way, you can both uncomment and customize information about your specific URL.
Backdoors
At startup, holding the following keys down will change defualt behavior.
Space Key: Disables Open dialog at startup(carries over to next startup).
Option Key: Disables Navigation Services(uses old Standard File dialogs).
Now generates a "table of contents" page, which lists all image files and their pages as links.
Note: No specific translation is done when saving as html. If your files are not of format GIF or JPEG(read by most web browsers), you should convert them to one of these file formats first. This can easily be accomplished using the Batch feature, see below.
Finder Comments
A new floating window has been added to display and edit finder comments(i.e. comments that can be accessed in the finder "Get Info"). An additional Find item has been added to include these comments.
Note: Although finder comments can be accessed from catalog files, they are not stored as part of catalog file data.
Batch
The Save To Location choice in the File Save options has been restored. By Setting a Save Location(folder), you can now convert files to a convenient location.
Bugs
*If standard file dialog was used to Open Folder, a crash would occur.
*An error may have occurred at startup with pre-3.0 versions of QuickTime.

Help
The help files and guide files have been replaced, with new HTML based help. See the file "Installing Help Files" in order to install.
QuickTime Video Effects
You can now modify images with any available effect and display a transition effect when moving between files. In order to use effects, the following must be true:
1) QuickTime 3.0 or greater is installed.
2) Prefs/File/Use QuickTime Effects must be set.
3) An effect must be chosen or the Random Transition menu item must be set(default is on).
4) For transition effects, a source/previous image must be present. This will occur automatically, when moving from one file to another. So, to use a transition effect to modify an image, you need to have moved to another image(i.e. when you first open a file list, there is no source/previous image).
5) For transition to display when moving between files, the menu item Modify/Use Transition Effect must be set.
Note: Effects can use a lot of memory(temporary buffers etc.). It is strongly advised, you give ImageViewer at least 16 MB to use effects.
The menu item Modify/Set QuickTime Effects Steps, allows you to set the number of times the effect is run. This value can have a great impact on the output from an effect. Some effects work well with a few steps(5-10), while others require a greater number to produce a noticeable change.
While an effect is running, you can use command-period keys to stop it. For example, you might choose Fire effect and set steps to a very high number. You can then run the effect and stop it when it has reached the point you want(i.e. desired result).
By default, random transitions will run while moving between images.
Browser Controls Window
The slider is back! A new floating window has been added, which includes the increment/decrement, start/stop auto-browsing controls previously located at the top of the document window. A slider has been added for quick browsing. While you move the slider, the file name and preview(if one exists), are updated. If you release the slider on a new file, the current document is updated accordingly.
Navigation Services
Navigation Services dialogs for Open/Save have replaced the previous standard file dialogs.
QuickTime as default decompressor
If the Prefs/Display/Try QuickTime First To Decompress Images is set, ImageViewer will try to decompress images via QuickTime, rather than using its internal decompressosrs. This can be helpful to view certain files that ImageViewer doesn't decompress as well(e.g. TIFF CMYK).
Multi-Page TIFF Files
ImageViewer now reads multi-page(image) TIFF files, similar to the way it reads multi-image GIF files. Currently, you cannot Save these files(they are treated as read-only). If you choose Save As, only 1 image(frame) will be saved.
Note: These files can use a lot of memory. ImageViewer will read as many pages/frames as it can, so the number of frames displayed might not be the total for the file. It is strongly advised, you give ImageViewer as much memory as you can, when viewing such images.
